7 Steps to Go Live

Log In to SimpleTexting

  1. Go to app.simpletexting.com and log in to your SimpleTexting account.
  2. If you don't have an account yet, sign up at simpletexting.com — they offer a 14-day free trial.
  3. Make sure your account is set up with your business phone number (541) 640-9303 or a dedicated SimpleTexting number.

Create the AUDITS Keyword

  1. Navigate to Keywords in the left sidebar menu.
  2. Click Create a Keyword (or Add Keyword).
  3. Enter AUDITS as your keyword (case-insensitive — customers can text 'audits', 'Audits', or 'AUDITS').
  4. Select your phone number from the dropdown.
  5. Click Create to save the keyword.

Configure the Auto-Reply Message

  1. After creating the keyword, you'll be taken to the keyword settings page.
  2. Under Auto-Reply Message, paste the compliant welcome message provided below.
  3. This message includes all required TCPA/CTIA compliance elements: business identification, opt-out instructions (STOP), help instructions (HELP), and message frequency disclosure.
  4. Click Save to activate the auto-reply.

Set Up Compliance Features

  1. Go to Settings > Compliance in your SimpleTexting dashboard.
  2. Enable Double Opt-In if required by your carrier (recommended for marketing messages).
  3. Set your Business Name to 'Bend Payroll and Insurance'.
  4. Add your Privacy Policy URL: your-domain.com/privacy
  5. Add your SMS Terms URL: your-domain.com/sms-terms
  6. Set Message Frequency to 'Varies' (since you'll send both promotional and informational messages).
  7. Enable STOP/HELP auto-responses (SimpleTexting handles these automatically).

Configure Contact List & Tags

  1. Go to Contacts > Lists in the sidebar.
  2. Create a new list called 'Compliance Review Leads'.
  3. Go back to your AUDITS keyword settings.
  4. Under Add to List, select 'Compliance Review Leads'.
  5. Optionally, add a tag like 'SMS-Lead' or 'Compliance-Audit-Request' for CRM integration.
  6. This ensures every person who texts AUDITS is automatically added to your lead list for follow-up.

Set Up Notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Enable Email Notifications for new keyword opt-ins — set the email to [email protected].
  3. Optionally enable Push Notifications on the SimpleTexting mobile app so Joy gets instant alerts.
  4. This ensures no lead falls through the cracks — Joy is notified the moment someone texts AUDITS.

Test Everything

  1. From a personal phone (not the business number), text AUDITS to your SimpleTexting number.
  2. Verify the auto-reply message is received correctly.
  3. Text STOP and verify you receive the opt-out confirmation.
  4. Text HELP and verify you receive the help message.
  5. Check that the contact was added to your 'Compliance Review Leads' list.
  6. Verify Joy received the email notification.
  7. Text START to re-opt-in and confirm the re-subscription works.
